Covid-19 in Acute Pancreatitis
The remote care pancreatitis ‘Hub and Spoke’ pathway at the Freeman hospital, Newcastle has documented an increase in patients with acute pancreatitis with COVID 19 infection warranting ICU admission and endoscopic interventions. This may have implications on resource allocation on already stretched ICU services within the NHS. A national audit to identify incidence of acute pancreatitis admissions during the COVID-19 pandemic and outcomes following development of COVID-19 associated acute pancreatitis will provide new knowledge, increased awareness, earlier diagnosis, data on clinical trajectory and outcomes, as well as allow rational planning and allocation of health resources.
