NIHR Research Capability Funding 2023-2024 Call

There is a call opening today for NIHR Research Capability Funding 2023/2024.

NIHR RCF is a research funding stream designed to help research-active NHS organisations attract, develop and retain high quality research, clinical and support staff.

Bids are welcome from any area of clinical research but priority will be given to bids that will increase and develop new areas of high quality clinical research activity in the Trust and the University.

It is a requirement of the award that successful applicants will be expected to provide an interim progress report half way through the award and a final report within one month of the end of the funding.  This must detail the outcome of the work undertaken through NIHR RCF.

Please see attached guidance note and ensure that application forms are fully completed; any applications which require Trust Finance sign-off must be signed before submission.  To request a Trust costing, please email nuth.Researchfinance@nhs.net including the following:-

  • Name
  • Assignment number
  • Period start and end
  • WTE

Please note that if for a new member of staff, please include staff band instead of name and assignment number.

If you are a Nurse, Midwife, Allied Health Professional or Clinical Psychologist, please ensure you contact The Trust’s NMAHP Research Team as soon as possible, to let them know you are submitting, as there is a wealth of support, advice and guidance available for those applying for any research related funding or wishing to explore options to develop and lead their own research.  Please contact them via Nuth.NMAHPresearch@nhs.net  or 0191 2139493, 0191 2138778.

The closing date for receipt of applications is midnight on Sunday, 8 January 2023.  Applicants will be notified of decision early March 2023.

Applications will be reviewed by a panel of Senior Clinical Researchers, which includes Senior Investigators and Research Senior Leadership Team.

Please submit fully completed application forms, including appropriate costings and sign-off, to norma.smith@nhs.net or by post to the Research Hub, Level 6, Leazes Wing, Royal Victoria Infirmary (marked for the attention of Norma Smith).
