This is the training provided for healthcare professionals that encompasses range of hands-on procedural tasks essential to patient care in Research by utilising direct care for individual patients/ research participants.

There is are a number of skills Training in line with the National Guidelines, Trust Guidelines, Trust Policies and Study Protocols.

This includes skills listed below such as:

1. Physical Assessment/ Examination – Recording Vital observations- NEWS2/ PEWS & e- Observations, Blood Glucose & Ketones Recording.

2. Investigations & Physical examinations – Human Tissue Sample taking:  Bloods (Venepuncture, Cannulation), Swabs, Urinalysis, Pregnancy Tests. 

3. Treatment – Medicines: Oral, IM & S/C, topical & IV Drug Administration including B Braun Pump Training

4. Diagnostic Investigations – Laboratory skills Training, ECG, MMSE, 6 minute walk.

5. Safety & Risk assessment – Dry ICE & IATA Training, ANTT Practical & Moving and Handling (Renewal)

6. Effective communication – Record Keeping: – Digitisation e- Records (in collaboration with Martin Edney & Super Users) Patient’s story, Handover- SBAR.

7. Team working and Professionalism – Deteriorating Patient Training.
