Where possible the Trust offers face-to-face training as it has several advantages, including the chance to network with our colleagues. However, we also realise that people have different ways of learning and different time pressures meaning there is a need for variety in approach to training. As a result, there are several e-learning options available to our staff.
We are continually developing new e-packages. Check back here to see updates.
Consent e-learning package
Research consent can be complicated and there are several aspects to consider when speaking with potential participants. Anyone that is involved in research consent at Newcastle is expected to complete the training offered by our Local Clinical Research Network.
If you need a quick refresher, the Trust offers a 20-minute bitesize e-learning module. This can be found within the Trust’s Learning Lab.
Coordinator Guidance Pack
If you join the Trust as a Clinical trial Coordinator, there is a comprehensive e-learning package to support you settle into your role. Even if you have been here for some time and want a refresh on the activities of a CTC, this course will help. The course covers all aspects of the CTC role, including but not limited to, local processes, finance, governance and support. The course can be found within the Trust’s Learning Lab.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Working Instructions (WI) and Guidance
The clinical Research Directorate has a comprehensive suite of SOPS, WIs and guidance documents. The documents form part of our overall Quality Management System (QMS) and should be used to support your daily duties.
Documents are managed through our Q-pulse system and staff need to acknowledge and understand them. If you are not receiving q-pulse notifications, please let us know. Acknowledgement of documentation forms part of your training file and should be kept up-to-date.
Copies of our SOPs, WIs and guidance can also be found within the document section of this website.
