All employees that work in the clinical Research Directorate are expected to have a good understanding of GCP. Training for GCP is currently provided by the NIHR Local Clinical Research Network via the NIHR Learn platform. All staff, should complete the Introduction to GCP session when they join the Directorate and thereafter complete a refresher every three years.
GCP Advocates
Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and the following of its principles is essential in the work we all undertake within Clinical Research to ensure the rights, safety and wellbeing of our participants. The GCP Network is a group of experts in their area, who together support the wider teams with GCP queries and learning development.
The Network acts in an advisory capacity alongside the NJRO Quality Assurance, Regulatory and Governance teams, as well as delivering in house training to further the development of all research staff/teams ensuring GCP compliance and learning from audit findings and inspection preparation.
Bitesize GCP Face-to-Face Session
In addition to the GCP training provided by NIHR CRN, the Trust will be offering several drop in, bite-size sessions throughout the year. The sessions are not provided as a refresher but to discuss specific GCP learning at a local level. The sessions will be developed in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Team and GCP Network, informed by our annual audit schedule.
In-house GCP Refresher
A short face-to-face course providing a GCP refresher, with an emphasis on local delivery of studies and trials. The session is ran twice a year and available to all staff requiring GCP across the Hospital and the University. The session is not a replacement for the formal NIHR training, but an opportunity to network and reflect on the impact of GCP for local delivery and patients.
