“I am originally from Paphos, Cyprus and I first came to Newcastle in 2010 to study. I have a BSc in Biology (Hons) from Newcastle University, and before coming to work here, I was an Assay Scientist at Helena Biosciences Europe.
My previous post in the University was in the Newcastle Bone and Joint Biobank, where I worked as a Research Technician. I have also acted as the Person Designated for the biobank which meant I was responsible for making sure we were compliant under the Human Tissue Authority (HTA). While my previous post had some administrative aspects and some technical aspects, this is officially my first admin post. Before coming here, some of my responsibilities included managing the day-to-day operation of the biobank, the facilitation of our audits as well as the data management of our sample records, and finally the technical aspect, the processing of our samples. While my ambitions include learning another language, at the moment I speak two, English and Greek. Also, at the moment I am studying part-time towards an MSc in Public Health and Health Services.”
