The NJRO Informatics Team uses and creates data to advance science to keep people healthy and to improve their outcomes when they become sick. They provide information management methods and tools to directly impact decision making locally and nationally, enabling new datasets and developing new infrastructure, methodology, technologies, standards and best practices.

The use of data is extremely valuable in medical research and allows researchers in Newcastle upon Tyne to make discoveries that could not be achieved using other methods. The knowledge that can be gained from the analysis of data has the potential to improve health and care outcomes.

The Informatics Team manages several systems to make sure quality data and information is readily available to researchers, industry, universities and the wider NHS.

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has a dedicated Research Informatics Team working to build bridges between data and patient health. They can be contacted at nuth.research.informatics@nhs.net
